When the original equipment emergency fuel door release fails on certain Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs, the resulting situation can range from extremely inconvenient to potentially dangerous. This patent-pending Dorman OE FIX release assembly eliminates the weaknesses in the Chrysler design that tend to cause the release to fail. The factory plastic handle tends to strip during cold weather, so we engineered a stronger and more reliable lever from cast aluminum. And instead of the comparatively fragile drawn plastic cable that connects to the door actuator, this upgraded cable is made from braided steel, providing much higher tensile strength, better temperature resistance and more flexibility. The result of these upgrades is an emergency fuel door release assembly that you can count on if and when you need it, manufactured and thoroughly tested to offer a professional, hassle-free installation on specified vehicles.
